Both these stones were recovered during excavation of the Ball Cross Hillfort in Bakewell during the 1980's and are now displayed and stored, in the case of the stone in the 2nd photo, in Sheffield's Weston Park Museum. They were recovered from the remains of a stone rampart from the Iron Age hillfort; showing that the location had been important in the earlier Bronze Age and Neolithic periods.
