There are a number of Cat stones dotted around the fringes of the moor. Cat is derived from Cath meaning battle, and all the stones carry crowns and dates; such as the Duke of Sutherland stone and the Duke of York Stone. The one pictured here is on the lower path of the moor on the edge overlooking Darley Dale.
