The Bridestones
Much denuded over the past 3 centuries or so The Bridestones would have been one of the most impressive chambered tombs in the North of England, but now sadly a shadow of it's former self.
Don't let this put you off visiting though, there's still lots to see to help you picture the former importance of this once 110ft long chambered tomb.
Access is easy here, one gate and you can park right by the tomb on the little lane besides it, but please do so thoughtfully.
Note: There's tales of an unfriendly dog being loose by the tomb, i'm not sure if this is wholly true as i didn't have any problems, bar a cow chasing me from the neighbouring field. !
The tombs remains.

Stones stolen from the tomb to heighten the farms wall.
