Moscar Moor Kerb Cairn.
Location-
Moscar Moor, Bamford, Derbyshire.
O.S Grid Reference-
SK2160 8591.
This is an interesting cairn. However, located in an isolated position well off the beaten track in an area of boggy moorland, determination and a gps (or good compass work) are essential.
Measuring some 8x6m in diameter and a little over 1m in height five equally spaced upright stones ring the cairn, two stones now lean outwards. As it has never been excavated it's not known for surewhat the monument is...some form of kerb cairn or a multiphased site where a freestanding stone circle had its interior filled with a later cairn.
