Hathersage Moor Barrow
Location
Hathersage Moor
South Yorkshire
OS Grid Reference - SK 25587 80927
A small robbed out barrow / cairn located on Hathersage Moor close to Hathersage Moor ring Cairn.
There's not much to recommend this site, though if your in the area to see the ring cairn it's worth calling in here as you'll pass it anyway.
The barrow has had the central area robbed out making it appear very much like a ruined grouse butt.
Well defined and quite easy to spot once your upon it, but definitely one for the "anoraks" amongst us.
I parked at Surprise view car park and made my way up towards Over Owler Tor via the Millstone Edge path.
Once on top of the tor you'll need to make your way down hill towards the brook at the bottom.
There's no real sight lines or features to guide you to the exact spot but you should be able to spot the barrow as you head down hill, close by stand two very small standing stones, they should help you locate the barrow, though you'll have to be with in 100 metres or so to spot them amongst the tall heather.
The barrow is around 100 metres or so before you reach the brook.
