Ecclesall Woods Carved Rock
Using the entrance to the woods on the corner of Whirlowdale road and Whirlowdale Crescent take the path up beside the house and walk for around 50 metres taking the first possible right turn, this is a path that backs on to the rear of the houses, follow it for around 250 metres till you see the little brook that runs through the woods, you can't miss it, it's the one with the concrete slab bridge and metal grills, around 20 metres before the bridge you'll see a tree stump to your right and a felled tree off to your left in the woodland, make your way over to the tree and you'll notice two cuts through it, (see pic below) stand in line with the cut to the right and using it as a guide walk 25 metres through the trees, the moss covered carved stone will be seen to your left.
