Harland Edge.
Location-
Harland Edge, Beeley Moor, Derbyshire
O.S Grid Reference-
SK2930 6858.
Access is gained from Hob Hurst's House just follow the quarry workings along the edge to the two large boulders visible perhaps half way along Harland Edge; the monument lies directly below the boulders.
This is a unique monument within the Peak District with features of both a ring cairn and chambered tomb. Overall the cairn is 9m in diameter defined in places by an outer kerb. Two entrances at the cairns edge, with tall portal stones leading to a flat central area, stand opposite each other in the NE and SW, either side of these are tall kerbstones. It is not thought that the passage was covered with capstones due to its width.
Assigned to the Neolithic/Bronze Age because of its position in the landscape and the surrounding monuments being of this date.
