Harrod Low (Sparrowpit Long Barrow).
Location-
Sparrowpit, Derbyshire.
O.S Grid Reference-
SK0984 8058.
Within a couple of Km's of the Perryfoot barrow lies Harrod Low another Neolithic long barrow. Unfortunately it lies on private land.
Orientated E-W the 42m barrow has been damaged by stone robbing pits and close ploughing which has allowed the barrow to spread to its current width of 18m. As with Derbyshire's other long barrows it follows the contour of the land but does not occupy local high ground..
Dug by Bray in 1775 who recorded human bones had been found.

Above: Not very impressive; the long barrow can be seen as a area of rough ground in the centre of the photograph.
