Bradley Tor rocking Stone

Location-
Bradley Tor
Birchover
Derbyshire
SK 2324 6207

Described by Thomas Bateman in his 1848 publication "Vestiges of the antiquities of Derbyshire" thus -

"Nearly a quarter of a mile West of Row-tor is another assemblage of large rocks, forming a similar kind of hill, called Bradley Tor, after a former owner of the property on which they stand; on the upper part is a rocking-stone thirty-two feet in circumference, of an orbicular shape, and raised above the ground by two stones, having a passage between them.
This conforms in every respect to the tolmens or rock idols described in Borlase's 'Antiquities of Cornwall,' in which part of England there are many examples of this form of rock-ing-stone, and where an idolatrous custom formerly prevailed of passing children and cattle through the opening beneath the principal stone."

Please note: This site is on Private property with no public access, seek permission from the owner of the house in who's grounds it stands before climbing the Tor, entering without permission will result in you being asked to leave.
There are several large dogs roaming the grounds, securing permission to climb the Tor will see the dogs secured by the owner.
